History: We don’t know Ghost’s name or anything about hir former life. For several months, zhe haunted the unnamed narrator via her phone and also spent some time in a tree. Ghost is reluctant to speak of hir history, but seems to be on uncertain terms with other ghosts including hir former “roommates.”
After the narrator’s phone broke, she and Ghost were separated. Ghost spent a hundred ghost years inside an egg, waiting to hatch, and then searched for hir friend. They were reunited near the end of the narrator’s life, and Ghost helped the narrator to pass on peacefully.
Personality: Ghost is compassionate, kind, and a little clingy.
Zhe seems really lonely. I think that Ghost craves some kind of interaction disproportionate to what zhe’s willing to do to get it; thankfully zhe ended up with someone who cared for hir too. (It was a friendship strong enough that Ghost spent a century waiting for an egg to hatch just to be able to see her again.) Ghost poltergeists considerate and meaningful gifts to the narrator, sets her up with Julia, and supports her through a terminal illness, but never asks much in return. Zhe seems grateful just to talk to someone.
I think that after a long time having ghost adventures (zhe mentions having met Eleanor Roosevelt in a Droid), Ghost hoped to start a new afterlife. Zhe feels lost at the point zhe meets the narrator, having broken off with some old friends and roommates, and wants to spend some time fostering hir relationships with others (something zhe never had when zhe was alive). Zhe builds a strong rapport with the narrator, gently challenging her to try new things. Ghost will want to provide the same support for others, in-game, acting as a kind shoulder-- phone-- thing to lean on.
Ghost is also prone to melancholy and anxiety. Zhe worries that others will reject hir constantly. Ghost even asks permission to haunt the narrator’s phone, or to use the tree outside her window as a vacation spot. Zhe talks about being tired or wanting to stay in, and seems scared of a lot of things (cats especially). Fundamentally Ghost just wants approval: zhe likes you, and hopes you like hir too.
Abilities & physical limitations: Ghost is incorporeal, but is able to occupy any given inanimate object.
Appearance: I would say zhe’d be similar to the AI’s in the game and occupies the computer zhe plays SBURB on. So, um. A computer!

Planet: Land of Haze and Hands
LOHAH is a misty, tropical seascape dotted with small, skin-covered islands. Enormous hands rise out of the water. Little crickets punt from island to island in wicker coracles, bringing vital work that can’t be completed with cricket-feet to the benevolent hand-trees. But the denizen Krake is pulling down and devouring the crickets’ guardians...
